ALLOCATION AND ESTABLISHMENT OF THE TETFUND CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE
The TETFund Centre of Excellence, FCE Pankshin also known as The TETFund Centre of Excellence for Innovative Teaching and Learning in Primary and Early Childhood Education (T_CEIPEC) is one of the 12 TETFUND Centres of Excellence in Colleges and Polytechnics which were established in November 2021 following the decision of the TETFund Board of Trustees and in line with the approval of the Nigerian President and the Honorable Minister of Education.
Allocation for the establishment of the Centre of Excellence was given to the Federal College of Education, Pankshin, Nigeria, with the mandate of developing high standards of conduct in research, innovation, and learning in Primary and Early Childhood Education, towards capacity building, human resource development, improving organizational capacity and creating institutional as well as legal frameworks in the research field, to have an impact on socioeconomic developments of Plateau State, North Central Nigeria, and the nation at large.
On inception of its establishment, the then Provost of the College, Dr. Amos B. Cirfat and his Management team, in line with recommendations of the Strategic Framework & Establishment Guidelines for TETFund Centre’s of Excellence, constituted a Management Committee, headed by Dr. Zipporah Pewat Duguryil as Centre Director, and a Technical advisory Committee ably Chaired by Dr. Sunday Jacob to oversee the Centre’s activities. Further requirements for the successful take-off of the TETFund Centre of Excellence such as the allocation, renovation & construction of boundary walls for the Centre building; procurement/installation & commissioning of ICT components, furniture, equipment and alternative power source as well as procurement/testing and commissioning of project monitoring vehicle, were achieved by the College and handed over to the Centre team on 22nd December, 2022.
