Collaborative Growth, Sustained Impact
T_CEIPEC’s Professional Learning Communities (PLC) programme establishes structured, school-based networks of educators who learn from and with each other on an ongoing basis. The PLC model moves beyond one-off training events to create sustainable, embedded cultures of professional growth within schools and communities.
PLCs are organised around shared goals, collaborative inquiry, and reflective practice. Teacher groups meet regularly to review classroom challenges, share effective strategies, examine learner performance data, and support one another in implementing new approaches. Each community is guided by a trained facilitator and supported by T_CEIPEC’s coordination team.
The programme has been implemented across primary schools in Plateau State, with cohorts of teachers in multiple local government areas participating in structured PLC cycles. Evidence gathered from these communities has informed T_CEIPEC’s broader research agenda and contributed to publications in the PACEN Journal.
The PLC initiative has been recognised internationally for its model of sustainable, context-sensitive teacher professional development, forming the basis of T_CEIPEC’s nomination for the UNESCO-Hamdan Prize for Excellence in Teacher Preparation and Development.
