Fourth STRIDE Training Expands Digital Education Reach

Continuing its systematic commitment to building digital teaching capacity among pre-service teachers, T_CEIPEC delivered the fourth iteration of its STRIDE (Stimulating Teacher Resourcefulness in Digital Education) program in partnership with the British Council. This ongoing series ensures that successive cohorts of student teachers graduate equipped with essential digital competencies required for effective 21st-century pedagogy.

The two-day intensive training covered core digital literacy competencies including digital literacy fundamentals and technology integration principles, working effectively with text and images for content creation, strategies for successful online and blended learning delivery, cloud-based tools for content sharing and collaborative work, evaluating and utilizing digital educational resources, and troubleshooting common technical challenges in educational settings. The program maintained T_CEIPEC’s signature hands-on, experiential approach where participants actively created teaching materials and practiced digital skills rather than simply observing demonstrations.

Expert trainers from T_CEIPEC, all certified master trainers through the British Council’s STRIDE program, facilitated sessions combining mini-lectures, guided practice, collaborative projects, and peer feedback. Participants worked in groups to design digital lessons, create multimedia learning materials, and develop strategies for implementing technology in resource-constrained classroom environments—a critical consideration for the Nigerian context.

All participants received certificates of completion recognizing their readiness for technology-integrated instruction. Feedback from participants highlighted increased confidence in using digital tools, better understanding of pedagogical applications of technology, and practical skills immediately applicable in teaching practice. The consistent delivery of STRIDE across multiple cohorts has established digital literacy as a core competency for all teachers trained at Federal University of Education, Pankshin.
