Second STRIDE Training Advances Digital Competencies

Building on the success of previous STRIDE implementations, T_CEIPEC delivered an advanced digital literacy training for a new cohort of pre-service teachers in partnership with the British Council. This iteration deepened participants’ digital competencies with enhanced focus on practical application of technology tools in educational contexts.

The four-day program employed a structured, module-based curriculum integrating theoretical instruction with extensive hands-on exercises. Participants mastered essential digital skills including tips for effective online connectivity and troubleshooting common connection issues, advanced search strategies for finding credible educational resources, working with text and images using digital tools for content creation, utilizing spreadsheets for data management and analysis, creating and managing engaging presentations using cloud-based tools, identifying and leveraging useful classroom resources available online, and sharing materials to the cloud for collaborative work and resource distribution.

The training methodology emphasized experiential learning through project-based activities where participants created actual teaching materials they could use in their future classrooms. Group discussions facilitated peer learning and problem-solving, while collaborative tasks simulated real classroom scenarios requiring digital solutions. T_CEIPEC’s certified master trainers provided continuous mentorship, individualized feedback on participant projects, technical support for skill development, and guidance on pedagogical integration of digital tools.

International best practices integrated through the British Council partnership ensured that participants learned approaches aligned with global digital education standards while remaining contextually appropriate for Nigerian classrooms. All participants received certificates of completion, providing formal recognition of their enhanced digital teaching competencies and professional readiness for technology-driven education environments.
