MCPD Program Prepares Pre-Service Teachers for Classroom Excellence
T_CEIPEC launched the Mandatory Continuous Professional Development (MCPD) program for pre-service teachers, designed to strengthen essential pedagogical competencies, professional ethics, and classroom readiness before student teaching deployment. This comprehensive four-week program addressed the critical gap between theoretical coursework and practical teaching demands.
The program delivered a carefully sequenced curriculum combining theoretical instruction with intensive practical application. Core modules included professional ethics and teaching standards aligned with TRCN requirements, learner-centered instructional strategies emphasizing active learning and student engagement, classroom management techniques for diverse learning environments, inclusive teaching practices addressing varied learner needs, STEM education integration methods, and assessment for learning approaches. Each module incorporated hands-on workshops where participants designed lessons, practiced teaching techniques, and received immediate feedback.
Microteaching sessions formed a critical component of the program, allowing participants to deliver condensed lessons to their peers while being observed by master trainers and fellow students. These sessions, followed by structured feedback and reflection, enabled participants to refine their teaching techniques in a supportive environment before entering actual classrooms. Participants also engaged in collaborative lesson planning exercises, case study analyses of real classroom challenges, and development of teaching portfolios demonstrating their readiness for professional practice.
Upon successful completion, participants received certification qualifying them for enrollment into T_CEIPEC’s structured internship program. This MCPD certification has become a mark of enhanced preparedness, with participating student teachers demonstrating significantly stronger classroom performance during teaching practice compared to peers without the training.
